L.6.2 I can combine two independent clauses with a coordinating conjunction and comma.

First 10 minutes- make heart or eye map in notebook with ideas for writing
Simple sentence – has one independent clause (might have compound subject and/or verb)
Combine these two sentences, using a comma and the word “and.”
                      Siamese cats have almond-shaped eyes.
                      Their eyes are blue.

Combine these two sentences, using a comma and the word “but.”

                      Her first name was spelled correctly.
                      Her last name was misspelled.

  1. Read through the sentences from the document below (We will practice these in the class meeting)
  2. Each sentence below has two words that are spelled the same but are pronounced differently. These are called "homographs".
  3. Choose 3 pairs, copy and paste the sentence given, and then write a separate sentence for each for a total of 6 sentences. Follow this example: 

The insurance was invalid for the invalid.

  1. Because I didn't pay the bill, my insurance isinvalid.
  2. The invalid was too weak to get out of bed.

 

  1. You can make this into a PowerPoint (have at least 3 slides) or you can use a similar online program. 
  2. Criteria: You must have 6 sentences, but you can do more word-pairs if you would like.

                       All words must be spelled correctly and used correctly.              

                        You may add pictures to help show the meaning.

  1. Be sure to Add Work (after you have saved it in One Drive with the title "Why English is Hard"
  2. Turn in
