Middle School Ready Links
We are so excited to welcome incoming 6th graders to Lone Star Middle School!
Below are a few ways to help your student prepare to transition from elementary to middle school this fall:
1. Memorize an important phone number
Students must keep their phones off and in their locker all day! Make sure you know a grown up’s phone number in case you need to call home during the day.
2. Read, read, read!
Take time to figure out what books you might enjoy reading. You’ll have time to read a book of your own choosing in ELA most days. The more you practice, the better you’ll be!
3. Practice those math facts
Practice those multiplication facts! Get your hands on some flashcards (homemade, store bought, or digital). Have your friends and family quiz you or challenge yourself!
4. Practice with a combination lock
If you are nervous about your locker, find a combination lock you can practice with! Your school locker won’t be the same combination, but you’ll get used to the order of turns.
